Frequently Asked Questions

What is Manual Osteopathic Therapy?

Manual Osteopathic Therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach that helps the body restore balance and heal itself. By working with muscles, joints, fascia, and circulation, treatment can reduce pain, improve movement, and support your overall well being.

Who do you work with?

I provide treatments for individuals ages 12 and up. Whether you’re dealing with aches and pains, recovering from injury, or simply wanting to feel more balanced and relaxed, osteopathic therapy may help.

What happens during a session?

Your first visit includes a health history and an assessment to understand your needs. Treatments are gentle, non-invasive, and customized to your comfort level. Most people find sessions deeply relaxing, while also noticing improvements in mobility, pain, and overall function.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No referral is needed. You can book directly. If you plan to use extended health benefits, check your insurance plan for coverage details.

Is treatment covered by insurance?

Many extended health care plans in Canada cover Manual Osteopathic Therapy. I am a member of the Canadian Massage and Manual Osteopathic Therapists Association (CMMOTA), which is recognized by many insurance providers. Be sure to check with your provider for specifics.

Is it safe?

Yes. Manual Osteopathic Therapy is very gentle and safe for most people. Because treatments are adapted to each person, they can be tailored to suit your unique needs and comfort.

How is this different from massage or chiropractic care?

While there can be some overlap, Manual Osteopathic Therapy looks at the body as a whole. The goal is to improve how your systems work together by addressing soft tissue, joints, fascia, and even fluid movement. Many people find it works well alongside massage, chiropractic, or physiotherapy.

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone is different. Some people notice changes after just one or two sessions, while others benefit from a series of treatments. After your first visit, I’ll discuss a care plan tailored to your goals.
